When an artist wraps up a one-song-per-month project after a whole year of writing, recording and releasing new tracks, you’d expect them to take something of a break. Well, that is unless you’re the pastel-pop Portlandian Liyv. She’s already treated us to the electronic melodics of ‘Hot Lights’ and this Friday it’s all about the overtly, sugary-sweet pop single ‘Like You Mean It’. It’s an addictive little number that could have you singing “na na na” into your hairbrush, in time with the minimalist beats that steadily built up towards a warped, robotic and cutesy repetition of the songs central line “say it to me like you mean it.” Once again, Liyv achieves pop perfection without falling into the trap of being boring and predictable.
